A quest to unite for Mother Earth

Earth Hour: Invitation to a Global Movement

INQUIRER.net
First Posted 10:05:00 03/11/2008

Earth Hour will take place throughout the Philippines from 8 to 9 in the evening on Saturday night, 29 March 2008. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) invites you to participate by shutting lights off for 60 minutes, organizing your own “lights-out” event or by forwarding this to your friends, workmates and family.

Launched in Australia on the 31st of March 2007, Earth Hour moved 2.2 million people and 2100 businesses in Sydney to turn off their lights for one hour.

This massive collective effort reduced the city’s energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour. With Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turning their lights off and unique events such as weddings by candlelight, the world took notice. Inspired by the collective effort of millions of Sydneysiders, many major global cities are joining Earth Hour in 2008, turning a symbolic event into a global movement.

Your participation will go a long way in spreading the message that we – as individual droplets working collectively can create an impetus far more powerful than the mightiest of rivers. For more information, log on to the WWF Earth Hour page at: http://www.earthhour.org

If you want to learn more about how else you can help make Earth Hour in the Philippines a success, reply to this email or drop us a line at (632) 920-7931, (632) 920-7923, or (632)920-7926.

Jun Lozada? A Filipino Hero?

-

The issue on the ZTE scandal has long been banging in the TV screen, and many have made conclusions of their own, basing on their knowledge and judgement of the on going events, and I myself have made my conclusion regarding this issue, but still, i respect each good and bad side of the situation, analysis on the matter is always important in making correct conclusions.

Yes, I honestly find Lozada as a credible witness, there is nothing argue about it, he is spilling out the anomaly of his own workplace, this itslef makes him as a VERY credible witness of this issue, but i am having problems though to the fact of calling him a FILIPINO HERO, thus relating him to our great heroes, such as; Jose Rizal, Ninoy Aquino, etc. for me, his level of sacrifice is incomparable to other heroes, though i respect the fact that his sacrifice benefits the country, we too must think first, why would a guy, living a wealthy and safe life turn himself to the other side, giving up pleasure, luxuries, and security and having a life full of complexities? not unless you are so dang crazy, could you decide to do such a thing! From that question, i have traced up all the happenings since Lozada spilled the news, and basing on my analysis, i can see that Lozada never intended to turn against the government, to turn against his means of income, to turn against the very thing that grants him life at it’s fullest! so why did he do it? but of course! as what he said, he was about to be killed! that is why! he was trapped within the situation, life and death, he has a wife! kids! relatives! that! that is why, he never wanted to spill the anomalies, he was forced to do so just for his safety, for his life, for his family, come to think of it, if he did not do it, he could have been a dead guy now.

Summarizing all, this so-called heroic act of Lozada is not intended for the benefit of Filipinos.. it is for HIS.. this was an accidental Heroic act, an accidental spill of the truth, a forced spill of the anomalies of the government.

But then again, i respect him as a credible witness, but not as a Filipino Hero. :)

Gadgets.. gadgets..

-

What have become of technology? getting smaller? getting bigger? compact? powerful? everything is innovating!

But in my opinion, i disagree with the usage of multipurpose gadgets, such as cellphones with camera, games, media player, mp3 player with 3mm jack, wifi, applications, etc. why? the same goes with other theories ” you cant have it all, and if you can, it will never be as good as the others”, say for example, the camera phone, it is relatively incomparable with digital cameras, in terms of speed, memory, quality, features, etc. same goes with the mp3 players compared to iPODs. The major inconvinience with this compact technology would be the battery life, definitely it… you have too much applications; you use it as a camera, a player, you text, you call, etc. ofcourse you’ll have battery life problems! not unless if you put a car battery and connect it with you gadget.. (LOL)

Though it is convinient for the fact that you’ll only be bringing and using one gadget for all your needs and wants, still there are disadvatages that you must consider, in my opinion, i stick to one on one technology, for better outcome and use! nothing beats a gadget with a single and precise function . :) same goes with a human being, task him with bundle of things, and he will not perform each properly, but give him one, which is his specialty and you will see something out of the ordinary. :) So technically if you to take pictures buy a digicam, if you want a music player, but an iPOD, if you’re more of a net surfer, purchase a laptop and have a connection, if you want games, got get a PSP(Playstation Portable)! if you want a 1st hand communication device, but a cheap cellphone *( in that way, you can abuse it > :) lol).

Technology has both good and bad sides, its up to you to decide when, where, and how to use them. :)

Final Fantasy Crisis Core; My new baby

 -

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (クライシス コア -ファイナルファンタジーVII -Kuraishisu Koa -Fainaru Fantajī Sebun-?) is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation Portable. The game is a prequel to Final Fantasy VII and is also the fourth entry to the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series, which also includes the games Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, as well as the CGI movie Final Fantasy VII Advent Children and the anime, Last Order: Final Fantasy VII. Production was overseen by Yoshinori Kitase, the director of the original Final Fantasy VII, with Hajime Tabata as the game’s director and Tetsuya Nomura as the game’s character designer.

The game mainly focuses around Zack Fair, a 2nd Class SOLDIER, and Cloud Strife while he is a lowly Shinra Guard. Another character also present in the game is Aerith Gainsborough as she features in the trailer of the game. This game appears to take place around the events of Nibelheim outlined in Last Order: Final Fantasy VII.

(source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crisis_Core:_Final_Fantasy_VII)
I have always been a fan of final fantasy, from FF1 upto FF12, and i tell you, FF7 is one of my favorite in all these series of Final Fantasy, why? its simply, unique, remarkable, realistic, good plot, excellent gameplay, for me it was the best Final Fantasy story ! and so it happens that they release the 4th compilation of the FF7, the Crisis Crone which explains further the time before what happened in FF7, here there are new characters, and some came back..
I was dropped jaw when i saw my long long idol, SEPIROTH, the ever mystorious, cool, powerful rebel of the FF7, the villain! he is soooo cool ! i love his sword, which is realatively long! and what shocked me more.. is that HE is an ally, nnow how about that? what a twist in my mind. :)
Though i dont know what lies ahead in the story, as i have only played the game for like an hour or so, but still it gives me the thrill, the story is good, the gameplay? unbelievably good! :)
Again Square Enix had successfully launched an addictive RPG.. :) more power to you!

HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE WORLD?

-

Change, such a broad word for a broad prospective! change, for me, starts from within, change starts from a little of something that creates an impact to our life as a whole. Now, how do you change the world? by changing yourself! be a better person, stop babbling complains, stop babbling other people’s mistakes, let us first try to reflect on ourselves, and establish a connection with our mind and heart, sychronize and feel your mistakes until you have an epiphany! asses your life, and ask your self, am i on the right path? After changing yourself, go and spread the news to the community! inspire people of your life.. use your life as a living testimony of God’s goodness, hopefully, you can change human hearts, mold them into what they should be, in the light, not in the dark..

Little by little.. change yourself.. little by little.. change the community.. and little by little.. change the WORLD . :)

PINOY BIG BROTHER

-

I have always been a fan of this reality tv show, why? because i love psychology, i love profilinf them then reflecting why this personality had a conflict or clicks with this kind of personality, i love to see them reveal and adjust themselves to one another which gives me an oppurtunity to reflect on my attitude and others, when and to whom i should say things and do things, in this tv show i realized that personality really clashes, that not everyone can get along, that you cant please everyone! that the world is full of complexity that not a single one of us should ignore, that we as a community in an environment should work together, interact, and co-relate.

What i love most of PBB is that it gives me an idea of different personlaities and how to interact with them, it makes me a better person in terms of socialization, this tv show had given me broad knowledge too of a humans capacity until one breaks down and cry, scream, etc., as we all know, we all have limits, limits that vary depending on our background and personality, also the tasks, everything has a reason, and there is always a time for everything, these are famous lines of Big Brother that i like most.

In terms of moral issues, PBB has successfully established a housemates who are models of the essentials of todays world, such as obedience, respect, love, care, etc. the tasks they perform molds them into a person of unique characteristic but with a common manner, the good manners. :)

But! there are always two sides of the story, the good and the bad,. what i hate about PBB is the fact that sometimes it becomes so scripted, manipulating their tasks to promote this and that, to have their ratings up, sometimes the essence of having it as a “reality tv show” is gone, what im trying to say here is like what happened on the last PBB, though mariel was already sent out, they really did their best to find a way to bring her back as there was an obvious flap on their ratings, as mariel obviously brings color in the house in terms of comedy and “kilig”, this is only one of the many..

but overall? i still love PBB and im looking forward for the new PBB season next sunday . :)

Water Theraphy; the best, cheap, and safest theraphy

*(water theraphy is one of my favorite! it helps me sleep better, dispose better, urinate better, and makes me feel cleansed within! it would hurt to drink water often and urinate often in a day, most specially if it does good in your body, you see as we intake water, it detoxifies our body and cleanses us within, it is the most effective, cheap, and safest theraphy there is, as what i read from the internet, as i was surfing, here is an article to support my testimony);

It is popular in Japan and India today to drink water immediately
after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have
proven its value.

They publish below a description of use of water for their readers.

For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses, the water
treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as a
hundred percent cure for the following diseases

  • Headache
  • Body Ache
  • Heart System
  • Arthritis
  • Fast Heart Beat
  • Epilepsy
  • Excess
  • Fatness
  • Bronchitis
  • Asthma
  • TB
  • Meningtitis
  • Kidney and Urine diseases
  • Vomiting gastritis
  • Diarrhea
  • Piles
  • Diabetes
  • Constipation
  • All Eye Diseases
  • Menstrual Disorders
  • Ear Nose
  • Throat Diseases

Method of Treatment

  1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink four glasses of water each of 160 ml.
  2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minutes.
  3. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.
  4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for two hours.
  5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink four glasses of
water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and
gradually increase it to four glasses per day.
  6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.

The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure main diseases:

  1. High Blood Pressure - 30 days
  2. Gastric - 10 days
  3. Diabetes - 30 days
  4. Constipation - 10 days
  5. TB - 90 days

Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment
for only 3 days in the first week to be followed by daily treatment.
This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement
of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.

Related Information on Water Therapy

Important: Please note there are
no scientific evidences of this theory to be true.
I am just sharing what was shared with me. I’ve searched on the web for
the Japanese medical society who claimed this water theory to be true
but was unable to find any clue. If you have any clue, please post it
as the comment.

Good Health to all of you…!

Did Jesus die on Good Friday?

*(found it while surfing the net, would love to share it. :) specially for the holy week)

It is not necessary to know the exact day Jesus died in order to be saved; you just need to believe that He died for your sins. Knowing the day of His death is important, but not essential. There have been a few people who have doubted the veracity of the Bible because they assume it teaches that Jesus died on Friday, yet they know the prophecy of Christ, “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” (Matt 12:40).

Therefore to say that Jesus arose on the third day is not sufficient, because Jesus said he would be buried for three days and nights. Skeptics take out their hand and start counting the days and nights, and it does not add up correctly. So they throw out the Bible and say it is inaccurate. However, the Bible does not say that Jesus died on Friday, only that he arose on Sunday. Jesus rose early on the first day of the week (Mark 16:9).

So where did the tradition of Good Friday start? Well, for the first three centuries Christians did not celebrate the death of Christ on Friday. In fact, they did not even celebrate the resurrection on Sunday. They celebrated the day of the resurrection based on the Jewish Passover, thus resurrection day would fall on different days, depending on the day of the Passover. It wasn’t until the Emperor Constantine fixed the day of Easter on Sunday after the first full moon of spring, which corresponded to the Jewish Passover. After setting Easter on Sunday, the church leaders made an honest mistake by assuming the death of Christ was on Friday. They came to that conclusion based on the fact that Jesus died before the Sabbath (Saturday was the regular “Sabbath” for the Jews which means “Rest” or no work). Mark 15:42 confirms that Jesus died the day prior to the Sabbath: It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath).

They assumed this Sabbath was Saturday and thus they concluded the death of Christ was on Friday. That seemed reasonable enough, since at first counting—Friday, Saturday and Sunday—that makes three days. This assumption was considered fact, and so the tradition of Good Friday began with hardly anyone questioning it. Unfortunately, they forgot to take into account that the Passover itself was also a Sabbath.

The LORD’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. On the fifteenth day of that month the LORD’s Feast of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. (Lev 23:5-7, emphasis added) As you can see, on Passover no one was allowed to do regular work, which makes “Passover” a “Sabbath”.

Since Jesus specifically declared that he would be in the heart of the earth for three days and nights, there is only one day that Jesus could have died to make three days and nights, and it is Thursday, and as we shall see, the Bible actually points to this day.

What about Wednesday?

Nearly every article that disputes Friday as the day of Christ death, will then argue that Jesus died on Wednesday. The reason they do so is in their view the three days and nights must be at least 72 hours. However, there is no prophecy of scripture that says after 72 hours Jesus would rise again. It was common practice in those days, as well as today, to consider any “part” of the day to be “a day”.

For example you say you spent the day with someone. It does not mean you arrived before the sun rose and left as the sun set. No! That is silly. To spend the day with someone doesn’t imply you spent 12 hours with them. It just means you spent “part” of the day, which you consider to be “a day”. This is how days and nights were treated in the Bible. So long as Jesus spent part of the day or part of the night in the tomb it is considered a day and night.

If Jesus died on Wednesday, he would have been in the tomb for four days and four nights. This would contradict scripture, plus it would pose another real problem for those who believe Jesus died on Wednesday. Here is the big problem!

The scriptures tell us that the women prepared spices to anoint Jesus’ body on Sunday. On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb (Luke 24:1). They could not do it earlier because they had to rest on the regular Saturday Sabbath. If Jesus had died on Wednesday, the Passover would have been on Thursday, however, the next day would be Friday, and there would have been no Sabbath on this day. They could have anointed Jesus body on Friday. So if that was the case, why did they wait until Sunday to do it, when Friday would have been a much better day? Do you see the problem with this view?

Some in order to justify this sloppy conclusion argue that it took the women a full day to buy and prepare the spices, and by the time they were done, it was Saturday again and thus the regular Sabbath began. This argument is really stretching one’s rationality. There is no way it would take more than 24 hours to buy and prepare the spices, for the Jews always buried their dead within one day, so they were accustomed to preparing spices for the deceased within a day. Besides that if they had waited 72 hours before coming to the tomb then decomposition would have begun and according to scriptures this could not have happened. Because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay (see Acts 2:27). God promised the resurrection before decomposition. You might remember that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days (John 11:17). Decomposition had begun for Martha, his sister, said, “By this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” (John 11:39)

In the end, I see three major problems to the theory of Wednesday being the day of Jesus death:

            1. If Jesus died on Wednesday, then Jesus would have been in the tomb for four days and four nights.

            2. If Jesus died on Wednesday, then the women would have gone to the tomb on Friday.

            3. If Jesus died on Wednesday, then more than 72 hours would have elapsed which would have caused Jesus body to “see decay”.

Thursday is the Day

I believe Thursday was the day of His death; let us clarify when a day ended and when it began. According to the Jews the day was over when the sun had set. We can see in Genesis that a day begins in the evening. And there was evening, and there was morning — the first day (Gen 1:5). It is hard for us to comprehend that evening comes before morning but in order to count three days and nights, you have to begin a day with the evening, or otherwise you will come up with 4 days and 3 nights.

It is clear this is how the days were counted in biblical times, for remember, Jesus died somewhere near 3 p.m. and His body needed to be taken down from the cross and put in the tomb before the sun had set.

The problem theologians have had on pinpointing the day of His death stems from not taking into account the fact that the Passover was a “special” Sabbath, not the ordinary one which always landed on Saturday. John in his gospel mentions this point, “Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath” (John 19:31).

John calls this Sabbath a special one. Since it was a “special Sabbath” not the ordinary one, there is no requirement on our part to say that the Passover landed on a Saturday. The “date” of the Passover was always fixed; it was the fourteenth day of their first month (see Leviticus 23:5-6 and Exodus 12:6). Prior to Christ, the Jewish calendar consisted of twelve months at 28 days for each month. So this meant that the Passover would always land on the same day, however, the Jews left that calendar and adopted a 29 to 30 day a month calendar. This was the calendar used during Jesus era; therefore the Passover was a “floating day”, which means it could land on any “day” of the week.

For example, Christmas is a floating day, it is always on the 25th day of December, and so it can float and land on any day of the week. This was the case of the Passover. It is my belief that the Passover landed on a Friday the year Jesus died. This would provide us the three days and three nights we need to fulfill scripture and explain why the women had to wait until two Sabbaths had passed to anoint the body.

So with that said, is there any other biblical evidence we can unearth which could shed light on the death of Christ taking place on Thursday? There is one other passage which proves the Passover landed on Friday of that year: Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived at Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead (John 12:1). Jesus arrived at the home of Mary on the ordinary Sabbath and it was there that Mary poured perfume on Jesus feet. A few scriptures later, the Bible says, “The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches…” (John 12:12-13). Historically and traditionally this is Palm Sunday. Notice carefully the previous day when Mary poured perfume on Jesus feet the gospel writer says that this day was Six days before the Passover. Did you get it? Count six days from Saturday, and there you have it! Passover landed on a Friday.

The death of Christ was on Thursday afternoon and His resurrection was on Sunday before the sun had risen. Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance (John 20:1). This passage clearly shows that Jesus rose on Sunday while it was still dark. This is significant because to get an even 3 days and 3 nights, Jesus had to die before the sunset and resurrect before sunrise.

The following is a chart to help you count the days and nights. It shows Jesus was in the tomb for three days and nights.

Thursday

Friday

Saturday

Sunday

Ninth hour (3 p.m.) Jesus died and was buried before the sun had set

Passover sunset Passover sunrise

Regular Sabbath sunset Regular Sabbath sunrise

Resurrection morning before sunrise

Keep Good Friday

I am not advocating to depose Good Friday as a remembrance of the death of Christ, just like I’m not advocating getting rid of the our calendar because it is off by 3 or 4 years from the birth of Christ. People make mistakes on counting days and years, and I believe the church leaders made a mistake on the day of His death. However I am satisfied at keeping Friday as the holiday, even if I do know the death of Christ was on a Thursday.

Our church has a great miracle service on Good Friday, and I’m just glad we have a day to celebrate the atonement of Christ through His death. It is not overly important that we get the day right, so long as we remember His death.

Anacondas: Hunt for the blood orchid

Basing on the title, it is over used, and boring! really, but the movie experience was great! from start to end, action was in the air, everything was explained, and the explanation was convincing! i loved the touch of pharmacy on this movie, about their theory of the orchid of life, that this was the reason too why the place had big anacondas, and why anacondas were crawling around the are. Anacondas nature is to grow big and big as they get old and old, now having the orchid of life (perenium mortalis) as a part of their life cycle had them live their life to many many more years, giving them the chance to grow bigger and bigger, and basically became a freak of nature! and because its mating season, thats why they were creeping all around. :D
the movie gave me the goose bumps! really. the thrill! amazing. i loved it. though i have comments on the cast, not all were totally fit for their role, their scientist/researchers were to hot! not like the typical geek freaks. :) but overall, the movie was great.
:D indeed you’ll be in for a slithering good time.. :D

Sleep Paralysis

Sleep paralysis is a condition characterized by temporary paralysis of the body shortly after waking up (known as hypnopompic paralysis) or, less often, shortly before falling asleep (known as hypnagogic paralysis).
Physiologically, it is closely related to the paralysis that occurs as a natural part of REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which is known as REM atonia. Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain
awakes from a REM state, but the bodily paralysis persists. This leaves
the person fully conscious, but unable to move. In addition, the state
may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (hypnopompic or
hypnagogic) which cause an acute sense of danger . Sleep paralysis is particularly frightening to the individual due to the vividness of such hallucinations. The hallucinatory
element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will
interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful, or
dream-like, objects may appear in the room alongside one’s normal
vision. Some scientists have proposed this condition as a theory for alien abductions and ghostly encounters.
The paralysis can last from several seconds to several minutes
“after which the individual may experience panic symptoms and the
realization that the distorted perceptions were false” . When there is an absence of narcolepsy, sleep paralysis is referred to as isolated sleep paralysis (ISP) [/url]. “ISP appears to be far more common and recurrent among African Americans than among White Americans or Nigerian Blacks” and is often referred to within African American communities as “the witch riding your back”

Possible Causes:

*(source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis)

Medication:

Clonazepam

Treatment:

  • stand up drink water
  • lie down in opposite of your last position before sleeping
  • dont panic, you are just hallucinating
  • move you little finger.. Smile

i too experience this, once in a while, so far, i can manage it. Smile

take note, sleep paralysis is “urom” not “bangungot”.
